LaToya R. Mims leads The Wildflower Alliance with a blend of scientific expertise, lived experience, and a commitment to reshaping how communities support children with disabilities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Fort Valley State University and a Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, grounding her leadership in strong analytical and systems-focused training.
Her daughter Harper’s diagnosis of cerebral palsy revealed firsthand the barriers families face in navigating services, inclusion, and advocacy. That experience became the foundation for The Wildflower Alliance and continues to guide the organization’s mission, design, and impact.
Before founding TWA, LaToya spent more than a decade mentoring youth as a volleyball coach at Ramsay High School—work she embraced after a career-ending injury during National Team tryouts. This background shaped her approach to leadership: disciplined, empathetic, and focused on creating pathways for children to thrive.
In her role as Executive Director, LaToya leads the development of TWA’s programs and partnerships with a focus on practical solutions, community impact, and improving outcomes for children with disabilities.
The Wildflower Alliance is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization
